We received the following question from Robert from Canada - we don't have an answer at the moment but maybe one of our visitors does. I am a French Canadian. I bought the box set of the "Stargate SG-1" season 1 in DVD and I am very happy of this. However, when I wanted to buy the box set of the season 2 I saw that this one don't had of subtitling in French and even less of French soundtracks. I have two questions: 1- Do you know if MGM go to republish the DVD of the season 2 with the French versions? 2- Do you know if The next seasons to getting out in DVD are going to have the French versions?
Update! - Previously we've been asked about where to find Stargate on TV in Canada - well we've had the following response from etagem
"Hello there,
Reading through your Help!
section, I saw the question posed by your Canadian visitors as to when the
episodes would be seen in Canada. I too am Canadian and a big fan of Stargate
so naturally, I've kept my eyes and ears peeled for any info. I read a very
small blurb in my local paper last week that stated the Stargate shows would
only be shown on WIC (Global) in Canada and maybe they
would start showing Season 6 in September. From the sounds of it, it wasn't
too promising.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad
news, but at least your Canadian visitors can have some answer as to what the
heck is going on up here."
We need your help! We've been asked a whether someone should buy the box sets of DVDs that MGM advertise on their site and it has prompted us to ask what we think is a good question: "What is best: Box set or individual DVDs? Do you get better extras on inidividual DVDs? Which is best value for money?" Well Mel has the individual Region 2 DVDs and they are full of extras but what about the box sets - they seem better value for money but are they lacking in extras? Please help and we will put up any info we receive here.
We've had two questions from viewers in Canada who want to know where and when they can see Stargate SG-1. Yikes - we've failed here. I'm still investigating but unfortunately my knowledge of Canadian stations are poor. We know that Stargate was showing on WIC but we cannot find out details of day or time. I'm hoping to get a response from MGM shortly. In the meantime if anyone out there knows the answer Please put me out of my misery. Thanks!
We had several questions asked about DVDs and Videos becoming available in the States. We've had the following response from MGM. Can I see STARGATE
SG-1 on video? Yes, both season 1 and 2 are available to buy and rent
nationwide. Season 3 will be released in June 2003 and season 4 will be released
in September 2003. posed the following question to us:
Hi, I was wondering if you have anymore
information about this being the last season for sg1. Why did scifi buy
rights to show the series if they are only going to produce one more season?
This troubles me greatly.
When Sci-Fi came on board for the sixth season it was already widely known that Richard Dean Anderson (star and executive producer) had made it clear that he didn't want to take part in a seventh
season (he wants to spend some quality time with his family). Richard has been quoted as saying that he feels that the show could continue without out him but many feel that there is little point in continuing the show without
him. Bill asked the following: I enjoy the show very much but I have been out of the country for six months, What's the deal with Daniel? Why is he gone? And, Why has the show moved from Showtime to the Sci-fi channel? Okay we'll answer these questions in reverse. Stargate SG1 moved from Showtime to the Sci-Fi channel after negotiations for a sixth season with Showtime didn't come through. MGM then negotiated with the Sci-Fi channel for a sixth season and this was successful. Of course these meant that the sixth season is now showing on Sci-Fi - annoying for those who hadn't realized. As for Daniel - the character was written out of the show towards the end of season five in an episode called Meridian- a brief recap of this episode can be found under the episodes link to your left. There has been much debate on the internet about why Michael Shanks left the show - however the main reason (as said by Michael himself) was that Michael wanted to look for more challenging roles and develop his career further. However a brief search of the internet can reveal more to both sides involved in this ever bitter debate. For further information on Michael Shanks visit www.michael-shanks.com
Christine wondered if we would be willing to introduce a Fan Art page. The answer - Yes! We think this is a wonderful idea and would be happy to provide part of the site for Fans to express their artistic nature! Thanks for the wonderful idea Christine!
asked: Who is Anubus? He's not listed in the directory and I never have seen year 5 yet, so that's probably why I don't know Anubus is a new mysterious Gould who turns up (via a representative) towards the end of Season 5. Hmm and we must work on our directory <whistles>
sr001e6444 asked the following question: "Hi to all Stargate fans Well we all know that Season 6 is supposed to be the last ever season and that there is a possibility of another feature film this time staring the cast of SG1 - but is there are possibility of another season coming along? Well we haven't heard of one - but has anyone out there? Please let us know if you have any information.
Doris posed the following question - "I have the first season on DVD and have been waiting and waiting and waiting for subsequent seasons to be released on DVD. Is it going to happen and, if so, when???" UPDATE: Season 2 box set is soon to be released in America - woo hoo! Well done MGM for finally letting America catch up with the rest of the world! Well Doris - you must be in the States. For some bizarre reason MGM have gone completely batty with DVD releases. In England they've released every episode on DVD EXCEPT for the first season. In the States they've released the first season but so far there hasn't been any word on the rest being released. As far as we know it must be a copyright issue but MGM aren't being very forthcoming with when America will see more DVDs. Sorry that we can't be of anymore help this time. We are puzzled, we are baffled - is there anyone else out there who can shed light on this mystery?
Rebecca asked the very good question of Where's the best place to buy Stargate DVDs in the UK? She in fact wanted to buy every DVD available!! Firstly Season 1 is NOT available in the United Kingdom but IS available in the States. If you have a DVD player that can support USA format DVDs then copies of the Season 1 box set are normally found on websites such as EBAY for around £40-50. As for the rest of the season the best deal that we found was £14.99 per DVD from Tesco DVD Warehouse. HOWEVER - Rebecca did far better and e-mailed me recently after finding that www.mvc.co.uk had a special offer on and that all their MGM DVDs were going for an amazing £9.99!! Now of course this offer is for a limited time but it just shows that there are deals out there for those that look and look and look...... If you happen across any fantastic offers let us know and we will put them up here.
devriese wanted to know if there would be a convention in Chicago, Illinois? Well we haven't heard of one being held there yet but if anyone out there knows of any events being held within the area - please let us know and we will publish it here. In fact we try to publish any events anywhere so let us know - please!
Miss Mash wanted to know what format are the Music Videos in. Currently the only format available to download these videos in is Quicktime. A free player is available from www.quicktime.com There are many reasons why we use this format and the main one is that the videos are created on an Apple Mac and we don't currently have the software to convert to AVI (Windows Media format) and keep 1) the quality and 2) the size of the file relatively small. However we are working on some new software.
Can you link to my site? (This has been asked by quite a few including Sarah, Satirae and Joy) Yes, of course, as long as the site is either Stargate related in some form. If the site is rated e.g. NC-17 we would appreciate that information as well.
Can I link to your site? (see above!) Yes Please! We currently don't have a banner - but are working on one and will put it up on this site when it is ready - thanks! |
